In the fall of 2020, the Palmer Scholar’s Board of Directors honored Sally by naming her as an emeritus member of our Board of Directors, and through the creation of the Sally Jo Bose Heart for Service Scholarship.

Were it not for Sally’s tireless service, Palmer Scholars would not be positioned to serve our community at the level that it does currently, if at all. She worked tirelessly to ensure that the vision and dream of our founders, Alfred & Mary Davis and Merle & Rosemary Palmer, continued to live on, and that the organization reach heights even greater than those they themselves envisioned. Sally approached the work with a deep love and passion, establishing meaningful relationships with the Scholars we serve as well as the staff who serve them. Sally laid a foundation for the future financial sustainability of Palmer Scholars, which has enabled it to continue to grow since her departure. Sally breathed new life into the organization, rebuilding relationships that had previously been neglected or broken and leveraging her existing relationships with various funders and charitable individuals throughout the community for the betterment of the organization. Sally served as the Executive Director for Palmer Scholars from 2013-2018. It is with an incredibly heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Sally Jo Bose.
